STORY
David grew up on Long Island and studied Economics and East Asian Studies at Harvard College. He spent his junior year of college at the Stanford Japan Center in Kyoto where he made his first short film as a member of Kyoto University’s Cinema Kenkyukai.
David’s graduate thesis film at the University of Southern California, BEAN CAKE, became the first and only USC film to win a Palme d’Or at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. David has worked as a television editor of prime time dramas for more than a decade. He has directed multiple episodes of ABC’s GREY’S ANATOMY and its firefighter spin-off, STATION 19. David’s other editing credits include Empire, Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, and For All Mankind.
One of his fondest childhood memories is reading Sadaharu Oh's autobiography during a summer vacation on the beach in Amagansett, NY with his Dad and then renting VHS copies of Kurosawa films with his parents in the evenings.
